This is Juan Mardones and I am a chilean/texan filmmaker.

I was born on December 16th, 1987, in Austin TX (USA). Then, in 1992, at the age of 4, I moved with my family to Santiago de Chile.

At 9 years old I saw Star Wars for the first time, being through that saga that I found out my passion for filmmaking and storytelling.

In 2008 I started to attend the Film & TV Direction program at University of Chile, from where I graduated in 2015.

​

Then, in the next 5 years, I worked in commercials, brand activations and corporate video projects, in which I developed my professional skills as a camera operator, location sound recordist and video editor.

​

In 2021, I started J.I.Mardones Films, my video production company, life project and safe place, where I create cinematic styled videos, and one year later, in 2022, I moved from Santiago de Chile to Austin TX, my hometown, in order to find new oportunities and consolidate my career as a filmmaker.

​

During the first 3 years living in Austin, I mostly have worked in fashion films, events and social media content, with which I have built a reputation as one of the most proficient video producers in the city, even being featured on local press media.

 

Currently I am working on my first narrative/experimental short film as a producer/director/screenwritter/cinematographer/editor.
